Operation¶
After connecting all wires as described in Setup, you can begin operation.
Pulse Generator Timing¶
The instrument can be triggered by an external trigger signal through the "TRIG IN" connector on the front panel. The "Pulsed Out" channel carries the signal applied to the user's load; its amplitude and pulse width are variable. Use an oscilloscope or other measurement system to capture the output waveform. High-Speed Operation¶
- In the Microsanj Project Manager, set the frame rate to 35, then click "Transient Thermal Imaging" to configure the Timing\Illumination parameters as follows:
- Device Pulse Width(s): 200 ns
- Duty Cycle: 1%
- Click the "START Measurement" button.
- Check the voltage of the "Device Under Test," which is the user load connected to "Pulsed Out" on the SanjPulse5050 front panel. Connect it to an oscilloscope or other measurement instrument to view the waveform.
- Set the oscilloscope time base to 50 ns and delay to -200 ns to better show the waveform. [diagram/image in source — not reproduced here: typical high-speed test waveform]
High-Current Operation¶
- In the Microsanj Project Manager, set the frame rate to 5, then click "Transient Thermal Imaging" to configure the Timing\Illumination parameters as follows:
- Device Pulse Width(s): 350 µs
- Duty Cycle: 1%
- Click the "START Measurement" button.
- Check the voltage of the "Device Under Test," which is the user load connected to "Pulsed Out" on the SanjPulse5050 front panel. Connect it to an oscilloscope or other measurement instrument to view the waveform.
- Set the oscilloscope time base to 50 µs and delay to -300 ns to better show the waveform. [diagram/image in source — not reproduced here: typical high-current test waveform]
Fuse Replacement¶
The instrument contains two fuses: a fast blow fuse (2.5 A) for the high-speed test, and a slow blow fuse (50 A) for the high-current test.
- To replace the fast blow fuse (high-speed test): press the black cap on the front panel, turn it counter-clockwise to remove it, then replace the fuse.
- The slow blow fuse (high-current test) requires opening the instrument to replace. Microsanj recommends this be performed by a professional/qualified service technician.
